As an advocate for teen girls now in my eighth year, there is no doubt in my mind that with minimal effort we can create change and impact. As women we all certainly see the breakdown of positive influence and realistic role modeling young women have. It's up to us to make this happen. In spite of how many years we have struggled to be treated equal and to have a better understanding of our value to society, we continue to fight for equal pay, realistic body image portrayal, strong leadership gender roles in the media, and stereotyping. These visible projections of set guidelines of what to aspire to do not set a goal for leadership capabilities or a realistic ideal of what beauty is. It's vital that we create an environment and sisterhood of support and group mentoring that teaches young women the confidence to impact the world and create change of their own and give them the tools to do it through informed decision making.
